A TDB Retrospective

A TDB Retrospective

Last year around this time, there were a few major news events, both nationally and here in Wisconsin. Today, I’m going to go back and take a look at those events in a special post I’m calling “A TDB Retrospective” (for those of you who are too lazy to read the title).

The two topics I am going to discuss are: Xbox 360 Launch, and Phillip Schuth.

Xbox 360 Launch – Around this time last year, we were all enjoying a nice chuckle at Microsoft’s expense. There weren’t enough 360’s to go around and the one’s that did make their way into people’s living rooms were buggier than the potato salad at a Fourth of July picnic. I even went so far as to make this bold statement:

"The worst launch in console history."
Good luck to Billy and all the other folks at Microsoft, I'm getting a PS3!

Well, this year, I am forced to resend that statement. I don’t believe I’ll be getting a PS3, I guess I’m a Microsoft fanboy this season. There are many reasons, but the main reason is cost. I don’t want to pay $600 for a console that I can’t even use most of the features of right now. Maybe in the future when I have a Hi-Def monitor…but why spend money now on something you don’t need now. Spend money later on something you need later.

Phillip Schuth – This is the man who put LaCrosse, Wisconsin on the map for freezing his dead mother in his basement deep freeze for months. As it turned out, he was doing it because he thought people would think he killed her (I wonder why…?) and he was collecting her social security checks. She was discovered after a complaint by someone who he shot at led to a search of his house. He is currently serving jail time I believe. However, there was one good thing about this situation: T-Shirts like this:

“My mom is cooler than your mom.”

And

“What do you have in your freezer?”

Ahh, the good times.

Well, that concludes my TDB Retrospective for today. I’d like to take this moment to let you know about the TDB podcast at audio.xanga.com/the_daily_beef or for download at www.myspace.com/tdbpodcast. Wow, I’m writing this in Word and it’s onto it’s second page. This is defiantly one of my longer posts…
